world’s hottest chile pepper

It’s actual name isBhut Jolokia Pepper and it translates to “Ghost Chile”, though we are not sure why it is named that. It was discovered by Professor Paul Bosland of New Mexico State University and Guiness Book rated this chili pepper as the world’s hottest pepper in fall of 2006. Scoville Heat Units (SHU) are what measures the heat of the pepper. For example, a New Mexico green chile has a rating of 1,500 SHU while an average jalapeno measures in at about 10,000 SHU. The Bhut Jolokia has a rating of 1,001,304 SHU’s.

The idea behind the Shutdown Day, a “global experiment” by Denis Bystrov and Michael Taylor, is to see if you can shut down your computer and last without it for 24 hours. So far, over 18,700 people had pledged to go without the computer for one whole day on Saturday, March 24, 2007. And about 3000 say they can’t do it !! (dated Feb 26)
